Indigenous to the Mediterranean and European countries, this small tree has smooth bark may be olive-green or of a reddish hue. The luxurious, evergreen leaves are thick, smooth, and of a shining, dark green color.

Laurus nobilis is the “source of the ancients” where the crowns and wreaths for heroes and poets were made. Ancient Greeks burned the leaves to enhance their connection to The Divine. The name nobilis, means “notable” or “renowned”.
